Very Brief Synopsis - This is the third installment of the Protectors series. It picks up about 3 months after the end of Jared, book 2. Pam is still missing, and Duncan is moping around, waiting for her to come back, apparently. There are a ton (TON) of characters floating around, so many that I had a hard time keeping track. Bad Guy Chad shows up again, along with Uber Bad Guy, Kenny, who is Pam's very abusive ex. Pam is now a half-breed, and pregnant. The Bad Guys want her back, Duncan is determined to keep her safe. What worked - Loved new guy Slade and Jill together. Sid is in rare form. Adam is turning into a very interesting character. Way fewer grammatical errors.
What didn't work so well - I felt no connection to Duncan at all. I got the feeling that Duncan wasn't "speaking" to the author, so she compensated by kitchen sinking with the other couples - Slade and Jill get a lot of screen time. Damon and Nicole, as well as Jared and Tessa, are having issues. Speaking of Tessa, we got to rehash all of her many and varied body/self-esteem issues, to Jared's detriment. Blah. Been there, bored with it. Recognize your worth, girl.
Pam was okay, I guess. She has been brutalized by her ex, and is now pregnant. While I get that she wants to reclaim her own power, I thought the road to intimacy with Duncan was off. I don't know, the whole thing felt weird. The whole Pam/Duncan thing felt weird, and I didn't really care about them as a couple until the end of the book.
Once again, our alpha males sit around and wait for the action to come to them. Duncan pines away in his office, while Pam is a few miles away. In her HOMETOWN. So, yeah, why would the guys think to look for her there, right?!? And this Chad guy...once he gets out of the Council compound, he's still in the city, but can our guys find him? No. No, they cannot. Nor can they locate Kenny. Are you seeing the pattern here? So. Frustrating.
***BIG SPOILER***At the end of the book, we find out that Angelina has been kidnapped to be sold into slavery. If she is waiting for our intrepid heroes to save her...well, let's just say her chances are not good for recovery.***END SPOILER***
Three books in, I still recognize character development as a strength for this author. She is good at giving each character a unique voice, and humorous dialogue abounds. Actual sentence structure, backstory, realism...these are pitfalls. Stop telling me what went into the omelet, and instead, tell me about Duncan's past. If these guys are Protectors, isn't there an Investigator team that can help them be a bit more proactive?
Bottom line - I can't help but think this series could be so much better if it was fleshed out more. There is no mythology - the vampires are essentially super strong, long-lived humans with fangs who drink blood. No sun issues, no...nothing. Again, no back story. No talent for, you know, finding anyone who doesn't walk into their offices. I am a character-centric reader, which is the only reason I am continuing with the series. I have already purchased Sid's book, so I will read that, but I think that's gonna do it for me.

Duncan The Protectors Series Book #3 eBook Teresa Gabelman Hot Tree Editing Reviews
Loved this one, and it was oh so exciting! What action, and drama with a bit of hot sex in just the right amount ( I hate it when there a pretty good story being told but they go way way wayyyy overboard with the sex scenes) So yes this is a good exciting book, and I loved it when certain people get their comeuppance. That's about all I can say without spoiling it.
So far I am really liking this series! It is so much more and so much better than what I had expected. It's a actually very well written and the story is really interesting, at least to me. I enjoy a exciting, fighting, action packed love story or romance. I like my vampires big strong and romantic but taking no s*** from anyone. They respect women and don't care what they look like, a bit of chunk doesn't bother them. So yep liked it quite a bit. Going on to read the next one. Oh this one does tie up some things but leaves some things open so we can go on to read about more of the rest of the guys.
So far this is the most heartbreaking book in this series. We meet Pam from boOK 1 as Nicoles BFF. I loved her charisma and good humor from the jump but could tell as part of the back story something wasn't right. We find out a big portion of it in book 2 but it didn't prepare me fully for this story. I cried. Alot. But Ducan, just wow what an amazing guy. Alpha male of course but the sincerity and love he felt shown brightly thru out the entire book. I have come to love this series because we don't deal with the poor macho torched guy routine found in so many stories but the actual heartbreak and sometimes victims us females face in reality. I enjoy reading how these women can prevail and u are proud right along with the Warriors who champion for their mates. I couldn't and wouldn't put this book down and read it less then a day. Too much emotion for me to have to stop and go again. I'm so glad I found this series and highly recommend for paranormal lovers like me.
Overall Rating 5 Rockin’ ★★★★★
This is the third book in Teresa Gabelman’s series The Protectors. It is the culmination of Pam and Duncan’s story! Their story began in book one and continued to thread through the next. Can true love defeat evil?
Pam is a woman on a mission. She loves her job and the children that she helps to protect. Unknown to her, she has been used as part of an experiment by her boyfriend. He has been injecting her with a drug and abusing her to gain information about the children she cares for. When Pam discovers what is happening she tries to hang on and get as much information as possible to help the children as well as the VC warriors. Pam finally has to run. Her body cannot continue to take the abuse that her ex, Kenny is dishing out. Who can she trust? Where can she go and be safe?
Duncan knew from the moment he met Pam that she was his mate. He has tried to leave her alone, but cannot help but try to protect her. When she disappears he knows that she is in trouble and he must find her before it is too late. What has happened to her? Why didn’t she come to the VC warriors for help? Who is after her and why? Duncan knows that he will protect her with his last breath; he just needs to find her.
When Duncan and Pam reunite things really start to heat up. Can he keep her safe? What secret is Pam hiding? Read this amazing book and you will be pulled into the world of the VC warriors!
